We are helping the people of Gujurat in India rebuild their lives following the 2001 earthquake. Our projects include rebuilding hospitals and health centres. We have also supported the reconstruction of 300 village dams to harvest the monsoon rains and improve the supply of clean water.
An estimated five million South Africans - a fifth of the population - are living with HIV/AIDS. Every day, 1,600 more are diagnosed as HIV positive. But there is some comfort for the people living with the disease - thanks to the outreach projects run by the Red Cross.
